As we move into the final weeks of schooling, and often the most stressful, the warmth of home seems distant. I often find myself becoming distracted from schoolwork, the end so close yet so far. The weather is typically staying in the 30s-40s range, urging me to stay inside and not make the necessary trek to the library. The cold is settling into my bones deeply, so for this blog images will take place in the comfort of my apartment building. While on these treks, it is difficult to find students in anything other than sweatpants and a hoodie for the duration of finals week. Finals make comfy clothing crucial, grueling hours of studying pushing you to take comfort in what you can control. Yet, I am most productive when I feel confident in my outfit, the statement ‘look good, feel good’ applies heavily to me. So, while I will participate in the sweatpants apocalypse, let me show you how to also feel put together while doing so.
Lets start with a classic, a sweatshirt and sweatpants. You really cannot go wrong with this combo, yet with great comfort comes not so great style. I find the easiest way to enhance this look is simply by doing your best to have the sweatpants be a color that is involved in your sweater. While the main color of the sweater does not have to match the sweatpants (we will delve into matching sets next), even the letters or pattern on the sweater can be a link to your sweatpants. As seen below, the navy color of my sweatpants is an ode to the dark blue mountains of my sweater, linking the outfit to make it look more intentional and overall, put together. When entering the winds chill, I layer this look with my winter jacket, scarf and gloves, my trusty UGGs always present.

What is the simplest way to upgrade an outfit that consists of sweatpants and hoodie? Make them a matching set! Sweat sets have become extremely popular as of recent, for wanting to feel aesthetic at an airport, or just upgrading your lounge clothes to look intentional, its a great option to enhance your look without compromising comfort. Sweat sets also have a large variety, plain or patterned, bright or dark, all comfortable. I decided to step out my comfort zone when purchasing this sweat set during Black Friday, the combination of pattern and bright color a mixture I typically don’t dabble in. Yet, I love this sweat set, the trendy ‘camo’ pattern and perfect pink allow me to feel fashionable even at my most comfortable. Not shown here, but I pair this with my winter jacket, and as you can see, my UGG boots.

You can never go wrong with a nice sweater (trust me, it can go with anything if you try hard enough). Tight or oversized, the sweater becomes a layer of warmth similar to that of a hoodie. While it may not turn the sweatpants into jeans, it certainly dresses the outfit up in the way a sloppy hoodie never could. In this outfit, I failed to follow my own advice, not able to match the sweater to the sweatpants. Unfortunately for me, my collection of sweatpants is limited and I did not have a pair of brown sweatpants in stock, which would have brought the outfit together than nicely. Alas, even without the blessing of the brown sweatpants, this outfit felt both comfortable and cute. As consistent with my other outfits, I pair my pink turtle neck sweater and grey sweatpants with my beloved UGGS, and outside of the picture pair it with my winter jacket, gloves and a scarf.

That’s all for this Temperature Edit! Stay Stylish!
